Class 6 - Week 12

Hey everyone,

to officially finish my AM journey I definitely have to make the last post for class 6.
It was such a great experience to learn next to so many talented animators. I'm looking forward to the point when we all work side by side on a big project.
For now I will keep working on my animations and try to get better on the acting side as well.
I will continue posting my progress here.
I hope you will check back on my blog from time to time. It was fun writing short posts along the program. Thanks for taking the time to check the blog.

Class 6 - Week 11

Hey guys,

week 11 assignment uploaded, I got my e-crit. Is it now over? Nothing more to come?

It really feels strange to know that the next weekend will not focus around making the deadline on Sunday for the submission. 

I learned so much during the program, honestly everything I know about animation. I know, without the help of my friends form AM my reel would not be what it is today. So thanks a lot to all of you :)

Here is my blocking progress for the new shot I started. I am going to change a few sections completely and see how it feels than. I will keep posting progress on my shots on this blog.

It was an awesome time and I hope to see all of my AM buddies soon in a big studio working next to me and we still keep helping each other out

Class 6 - Week 10

Hey there,

here my upload for week 10. I am not uploading my reel this time. I changed a few things on the renderings and the composting. I want to show it to you guys when The term is over. What I can show you now is a rough layout pass for my next shot. There is no acting going on, so just the contacts for the walks. I hope my Mentor has some good tips for the layout and than I try to get more into blocking the next week.

Class 6 - Week 9

Hey guys,

here my upload for the week. I changed a few things on the Sanity Clause shot. I also worked on the rendering. Stay tuned for the final reel when AM is over ;)
I put all the shots together for my reel and will see what my Mentor thinks about the order and if I should cut a shot from the reel.
I also started to plan a new shot which is kind of hard to plan for me right now. I'll try to get a layout up for next week.

Class 6 - Week 6

Hello there,
week 6 is over... half way through! This is going way to fast. I don't really know how to catch up with all the work ;)
I started to spline my shot and splined my way through the first 200 frames. Next week the last 100 frames will be turned into spline. Than I will start to add some lip sync and more detail to the hands, fingers and face.
Besides working on the shot I updated my website and my show reel. The website can be found here and the new reel on my vimeo page. I will keep updating the reel when the next shot is done.

Class 6 - Week 4 and 5

Hey Everyone,

here my progress on the new shot. I really tried to push the facial animation right from the start. I really hope its working.
I made also some small changes on the old shots.
So jsut a small update for this week, hope you like it and come back next week. Same place, same time ;)

Hey Everyone,

here my work from week 2. I pushed the facial animation on the girl a lot. I think its working way better now. On the monologue shot I worked also more on the lip sync. I addition to that I tried to find a new audio clip. No luck last week, so I really hope to find something good this week. Wish me luck :)

Class 6 - Week 1

Hey everyone,

now it is official, the last class of AM has started and two weeks are already passed. 

My new Mentor is Sean Sexton. He is working at Dreamworks for quite a while now and is a great mentor. I watched a lot of critiques from him over the last terms and learned a lot from them. I'm really happy to be in his class. Ok than, the next weeks going to be really hard. I have to find a new audio clip again and try to fix my animation from the last classes. Stay tuned for the weekly updates, happy animating and take care

Class 5 - Week 12 - Progress Reel

week 12 is there again and my new progress reel is up.
I really learned a lot this class and can't wait to start a new shot. I still think that finding a good audio clip is even harder than animating it ;)

here a quick update of my shot from last week. Its the final submission but not finished at all. I will try to get some basic hair animation in there and also fix some other small things.

Class 5 - Week 10

Hey Everyone,

week 10 is over and here is my next polishing pass. I got some awesome feedback from a few friends on my shot. This helped me to push it more and more and I think it really worked out great. I learned so much the last week and can't wait to go pack to older shots and tweak the face there too.
Besides the face I added more movement to the male character. Next week I hope I have time to work on my side project again but we will see how much feedback I'm gonna get on this version of my shot.

Class 5 - Week 9

Hey,

and to catch up with the posts, here my work from this week. It was a short week because I came home from the CTN conference on Wednesday night. It was an awesome trip, I met all the people I talked to in the last year nearly every day. It was great hanging out together and on Monday we had an fantastic trip to Disneyland. I think nearly one week later my voice is coming back form laughing so much. We will definitely do a trip like this again :-)

Back to the assignment. I tweaked the face animation on both characters more and hope that I add more life into the expressions. The upcoming week I will focus more on the fingers and hands and see if I can bring a bit more life and smoothness into them too. Hope you like it so far, happy animating

here is the next update on my dialogue shot. The female character is now in splines, still rough though. Next is going to get the male character in spline and than refine and tweak it more. Also the last face pose is up.

here is my blocking pass for this week. I went a bit further than the layout and hope everything is working.
It's something totally different to animate something which has such small movements and gestures. Will be fun to refine it more and more next week. Until next week and happy animating

He everyone,

here a quick update from the last week. I had to decide for three audio clips for the next assignment. As easy as it sound, it was one of the hardest weeks I have ever had at AM. Finally I had three clips and I'm going for #1. I will definitely animate #3 after AM. The next face pose is also included.
